Product Overview

Ruvon's Activated Carbon is produced by steam activation of premium coconut shells. This process creates a carbon with high hardness and low dust, which is critical for gold recovery and water filters where breakdown of granules leads to pressure drop and loss of material.

  • Adsorption Capacity: Measured by Iodine Value (IV) for liquids and CTC for gases. We offer grades from 600 IV to 1300 IV.
  • Purity: Low Ash content ensures minimal impurities leaching into the treated water or process stream.
  • Durability: Coconut shell carbon is significantly harder and more abrasion-resistant than coal or wood-based carbons.

Yes. Just 5 grams of Activated Carbon has the surface area equivalent to a football field! This is due to the Microporous Structure.

  • The Trap: Coconut shell carbon creates pores < 2nm in size. These are perfectly sized to trap small molecules like Chlorine, Pesticides, and Solvents via Van der Waals forces.
  • Gold Recovery: In mining, gold-cyanide complexes are adsorbed into these pores. The superior hardness of coconut shell prevents the carbon from grinding into dust during the agitation process, saving millions in lost gold.

Safety & Handling Protocols

Low Oxygen Hazard

Wet activated carbon depletes oxygen from the air.

  • Confined Spaces: Do not enter enclosed tanks containing wet carbon without oxygen monitoring equipment. It can cause suffocation.
  • Dust: Carbon dust is nuisance dust. Wear a mask to prevent inhalation and black sputum.
  • Combustible: Although hard to ignite, carbon dust can be explosive in high concentrations. Keep away from open flames.
